Many people don’t realize it, but traditional mattresses often contain chemical substances, synthetic foams, and plastics. Materials that can be harmful to your health and leave a heavy ecological footprint.
Think of solvent-based glues, non-degradable plastics, and foams that retain heat and ventilate poorly. They can cause irritation, restless nights, or even allergic reactions.
Moreover, these materials are difficult or even impossible to recycle, which means an old mattress often ends up in a landfill.
Not exactly a choice in line with conscious and sustainable living.
What makes a mattress truly natural?
A mattress is only truly natural when it is free from synthetic foams, chemical glues, and plastics. Many brands claim to be ‘sustainable’, but only a few actually use certified, 100% natural materials.
At Tuur®, we choose transparency, health, and ecology. Our natural latex mattresses are made from the sap of the rubber tree, a renewable resource that is transformed into a resilient, ergonomic mattress without the use of synthetic additives.

Why is a natural mattress important?

Why a natural latex mattress?
A natural latex mattress is the ideal answer for those who want to sleep consciously: made from 100% natural rubber tree sap, without synthetic additives. It is breathable, temperature-regulating, and provides resilient support that adapts to your body. Natural latex is also hypoallergenic and antibacterial: completely free of chemical treatments.
The synthetic foams in standard mattresses offer little long-term support. For people with sensitive joints, such as hips or shoulders, this can lead to morning pain or poor sleep quality.
Chemical adhesives and synthetic fabrics can emit odors or cause irritation, especially for sensitive skin or airways. This is not uncommon: many people only notice the difference when they switch to a natural alternative.
A standard mattress is made from multiple materials that are glued together. This makes recycling nearly impossible, and most of them end up in landfills. That doesn't sit well with anyone trying to live more consciously.

These partnerships enable us to actively contribute to nature conservation and the protection of biodiversity. By joining forces, we are committed to a greener future for everyone.
Our donations are used to preserve the sloth's habitat in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. Wilderness International purchases land in this area to prevent it from being cleared for agricultural purposes, helping to preserve biodiversity and reduce the effects of deforestation.
We donate 1% of our revenue to Natuurpunt, an organization dedicated to protecting nature in Belgium. Natuurpunt works on the conservation of natural areas and the promotion of biodiversity. Through our contribution, we support their important work and play our part in creating a greener future.

The cover (ticking) consists of 70% organic cotton and 30% natural viscose and is treated with Greenfirst®, based on essential oils, for natural protection against house dust mites. No chemical glues or plastics, just peace of mind for your head and body.

All materials that come into contact with your skin, such as mattress covers and foams, are OEKO-TEX® standard 100 certified. This means they are free form harmful substances and safe for both people and the environment, even for babies.
GOTS
All the cotton used in our mattress covers and textiles is GOTS certified. This means it comes from 100% organic farming, without the use harmful pesticides or chemicals. GOTS also ensures fair working conditions throughout the entire supply chain.
